As Malaysia assumed Chairmanship of ASEAN in 2025, YB Dato’ Sri Azalina Othman Said, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Legal Affairs), embarked on a regional tour across ASEAN member states. The purpose of this initiative was to engage directly with her counterparts—Ministers of Law and Justice—as well as representatives from national legal institutions, such as parliaments and judicial bodies. These face-to-face discussions aimed to strengthen legal cooperation, promote shared legislative priorities, and build an inclusive, innovative, and resilient ASEAN legal ecosystem. This proactive and consultative approach reflects Malaysia’s commitment to fostering a unified regional legal framework that supports the rule of law, economic integration, and regional stability.
